A 140° lens has a focal length of 3.8mm for a wide field of view and rotates 300°. The 4MP CMOS sensor is designed to provide high quality images in low light. The camera housing features an IPX7 rating to make sure water doesn't affect the camera's operation. The camera features a built-in mic and a speaker, and also includes a USB mic adapter to connect an external mic with a 3.5mm plug.

The Ghost XL records to a microSD/HC/XC card and can be controlled via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with the Drift Life smartphone app for iOS or Android. The small form factor of the Ghost XL allows the camera to be mounted on a variety of surfaces and gear with the included custom mounts.
