How to maintain pH electrode?

After using the electrode for a period of time, if the slope becomes lower and the response speed becomes slower, the following methods can be tried:
(1) if the sample contains protein, you can use pepsin/hydrochloric acid lotion to clean the electrode membrane.
(2) if the measured sample is oily/organic liquid, can be washed with acetone or ethanol.
(3) if the electrode liquid collateral dirty and black, available mercaptan cleaning solution to clean the collateral.
(4) activated electrode membrane, activation method: the electrode regeneration solution soaked for 30 seconds, and then soaked with 3mol/L KCl solution for 5 hours.

Q:Why does the PPT measurement vary greatly?

A:Accuracy is accurate within 150ppt, while deviation above 160ppt is large

Q:How often does the electrode need to be calibrated?

A:The calibration frequency of the electrode depends on the use, maintenance, sample properties and measurement accuracy of the electrode.
Calibration is recommended once a day, not more than once a week at most.
If the electrode is replaced or not used for a long time, it must be calibrated before use.

Q:How long does the pH electrode last?

A:The life of pH electrode is related to the nature of the sample, sample temperature, frequency of use and maintenance.
Under normal use and proper maintenance, the life of pH electrode is 1 to 2 years.
